A couple of weeks ago, I went to my very first Shoebox Swap. I had such a great time stamping with new friends and I can't wait until we get together again :) I was lucky enough to win a door prize and I chose a huge pack of plain white coasters. They have been sitting on my huge craft desk this entire time just begging me to play with them so I finally sat down (in between when the girls needed me every 3 minutes of course lol!) and got to work.

When I started out, I was originally going to make a coaster box that could be used for holiday gift giving but after I got the box put together I was hit with inspiration- these would make a great desk organiser!

The coasters measure 4 in. square and I used a total of 7 coasters per organiser. I picked up this great Cosmo Cricket paper at my LSS a few weeks ago and it too was just sitting on my desk waiting to be used. I cut my DP into 3- 4 in. strips then cut the strips again so that I had a total of 9- 4 in. squares. One sheet of 12"x12" DP was just enough to alter both organisers and I had one square left over that I used to punch out and stamp a sentiment. There is a great tutorial by Taylor Vanbruggen over on SCS (here) that shows you how to make these cute coaster boxes! After I had my boxes put together, I stamped my images on Very Vanilla card stock and colored them in with a blender pen and various SU inks. I then cut them out (leaving a small white boarder around the image because I love the way it looks) and added them to the box with dimensionals. For the sentiment, I used my new SU punch to punch out some DP, stamped the sentiment and added some adhesive pearls. Do you see the side of the darker organiser?? I glued down a stack of sticky notes! Now I don't have to dig around for them when I need them :)

For the inside dividers I took two coasters and cut a small slit (1.5 in. long) from the bottom (two in. in from the side). I then put the two coasters together by sliding one into the other.

I was surprised by how much stuff I can fit into these! And I have to say that these look way cuter holding my stuff than the clear plastic cups I was using did. I'm pretty sure it's the penguins ;)

Project Recipe:
Stamps- Penguin Love
Paper- DP by Cosmo Cricket, Very Vanilla
Ink- Momento Tuxedo Black, various SU inks for coloring
Accessories- Coasters, blender pen, stardust gelly roll pen, SU punch, ribbon, Crop O Dile, dimensionals
