Babies on the brain

So those of you that know me well, know that I have had babies on the brain for over a year but since Matt went to Dr. Snip when I was pregnant with Kayla, this oven is closed for business lol! Fortunately for me my best friend has just found out that she is pregnant! With twin boys!! Wahoo!!! I am so excited, I can hardly stand it lol! She's going to need all the help she can get and I am going to finally get my much needed baby fix. As far as I can see, it's a win-win situation ;-)

Here is a card that I made for the mother of my boys, ahem... I mean my best friend ;)
*Stamp set used: Bit Of Stardust
* Create card base out of Kraft cardstock
*Use an SU Scallop Boarder punch on the Early Espresso layer then adhere blue dp and white layers on top.
*Stamp sentiment onto side of white panel, punch with SU tab punch on both the top and bottom
*Ruffle ribbon and thread through the punched holes
*Adhere panel to card base
*Stamp onsie images onto white cardstock in Early Espresso, cut out and adhere with dimensionals

Hello everyone and happy Monday! It has been such a long time since I've been able to participate in a TSG challenge but last night I whipped up a quick clean and simple card based on Iwona's inspiration piece. With everything that has been going on with Kylie over the last month, it is taking me a bit of time to get back into stamping but I think I'm finally getting there :)

Here is the inspiration piece-

*Stamp set used: Bit Of Stardust
*Created a simple DP layered panel then stamped the swirls
*Stamped sentiment below
*Stamped stars on seperate piece of cardstock, cut out, added sparkle with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen and adhered to the layered panel with dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you will check out the TSG Blog for all of the details about this challenge as well as to find out how you can win a TSG Gift Certificate!

Nature of Friendship

I made this card for a good friend of mine. We met in middle school and have been friends ever since. We sort of lost touch over the last 5 years or so because she now resides in Australia and is also a missionary traveling the world. I am so proud of her and love that she's saving the world one soul at a time lol! This card went along in a care package that I put together for her. I love this sentiment, it's perfect for our friendship :)

*Stamp set used: Nature of Friendship
*Very Vanilla was cut with Top Note Die by SU as was the green layer on the bottom
*Stamped floral grass images before adhering green panel and then stamped sentiment
*Wrapped crocheted ribbon around the middle before adhering the panel to the Kraft card base using dimentionals

Long day at Children's

Juvenile Dermatomyositis
(der-matt-oh-my-oh-sigh- tiss)

Kylie and I had a VERY long day yesterday! She had a full day of infusions and testing scheduled which means we had to leave our house at 5:45 AM to ensure that we could get to Seattle on time during rush hour traffic. We were still a few minutes late but we made it in one piece :)

The first thing she had to do was get her infusions. So we were sent to Oncology where she got her IV in place (after they got a few tubes of blood from her) and we got comfortable. We weren't in a room but more of a sectioned off area with a total of about 12 'room' all together. Each had a couple of chairs, some medical machines and TV. Thankfully I had brought lots of things for Kylie to do as well as my laptop because it took about 6 hours to complete the two infusions!

After that we went straight to the Pulmonary Functions Lab where Kylie had to get a breathing test done. She didn't do so well on that so that may be something we have to work on at home. (Building up her lung strength back to where it was).

After that we had about 45 min. until her next appointment so we went to the gift shop so that she could pick out her charm (we have started a 'tradition' where Kylie gets to pick out a new charm from the gift shop every time she goes to Children's Hospital) for her charm necklace. She ended up choosing one that said 'boy bait' and daddy wasn't too happy about that lol!

Our last appointment was to meet with the Rhuematologist that diagnosed her at her first appointment. She was almost bouncing in her seat to share the results of Kylie's new blood tests with us! Are you ready for this? All of her blood tests came back NORMAL!! I can't even tell you how happy that makes us! She is still a long way from being 'cured' of her disease but this shows us that the meds that she is on are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. We have even started the process of getting ready to taper her dose of Prednisone which will be a huge relief! It has disrupted her sleep schedule as well as made her feel hungry ALL of the time! It's weird to have her asking for weird foods all of the time (like the roast beef sandwich she had for breakfast lol!) because she always 'ate like a bird' before all of this happened. She has only gained half a pound in the last two and a half weeks which is great considering the high dose of steroids that she is on!

So all in all, things are definitely looking up :) Thank you so much for all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers that you are sending out for our daughter and family!!!

Weekend with my girls

The last couple of weeks have been very busy for our family so I was very much looking forward to just sitting back and relaxing with my little ladies this past weekend. Hunting season started for Matt so he was in and out all weekend and the girls and I just hung out. On Saturday my aunt came for a visit and then we spent time in our backyard playing enjoying the beautiful weather. Sunday was spent lounging around watching movies as well as our new weekly tradition of nail painting for the girls before they go back to school.

Kylie is doing really well and has even started to take her pills all on her own! We are so proud of her :) On Friday we had to giver her another at home injection of Methotrexate (scary stuff that is also used for cancer patients!). It was a little rough but I think next week will be even easier since she knows now that it isn't that bad and doesn't really hurt. She is anxious to get better and has even googled 'how to get rid of juvenile dermatoymostis' on her Nintendo DS lol! She goes back to Children's Hospital on Tuesday for a full day of testing and also to get another Hemoglobin infusion.

Chloe and Kylie started school last week and are doing awesome! They both love their teachers and are excited to keep going back. Kayla and I have been enjoying our days together as well. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she enjoys playing independently and she loves to go play outside with one of the neighbor's dogs 'Goldy'.

Here are some pictures that I took Saturday afternoon while we were hanging out in the backyard-

From a withered tree

First of all, I would like to thank you all SOOO very much for all of the kind words, support and many prayers that were said for our family! Each and every one of them was (and still is!) greately appreciated. I'm happy to report that Kylie is doing extremely well adapting to the change of having to take different medications twice a day and we also made it through our first at home injection of the Methotrexate (scary stuff btw!) un-tramatized :) We take her back into Seattle Children's on Tuesday for a full day of tests and her first out patient Hemoglobin infusion. I will take all of this with a smile on my face and even say 'thank you' since I had been on the otherside of the wall thinking for a whole week that my little girl had Muscular Dystrophy.

Kylie also had her first day of school this week and although she had a rough time when I dropped her off at her class, she came home saying that she had a lot of fun and likes her teacher :)

Chloe also started school this week and is proud to be a full time Kindergartner! I asked her if she was ready to go back again for the next day of school and she told me yes and then corrected herself by saying "I'm excited to go!!".

So now that I have two out of three kidlets in school full day, I have more time to get things done during the day so that I may not need to stay up till all hours. I might find out what it is like to sleep again lol!!

Ok so back to stamping, So like I had mentioned awhile ago, I actually have a ton of cards that I have made but have yet to share them with you guys. My goal is to get a bunch of posts scheduled so that I can at least have some eye candy to share instead of nothing at all :)

************

First up is this ATC that I made for a TSG challenge a few weeks ago. I absolutely adore this beautiful cherry blossom branch that Chris illustrated for the The Journey stamp set. It makes my creative heart happy :)
*Stamp set used: The Journey
*Black base, Sahara Sand mat and Very Vanilla main panel
*Stamped the orchid in Momento, sponged the edges and stitched with sewing machine
*Stamped image again, colored with colored pencils, cut out and layered onto main panel
