TSG31- It's a color challenge!

This week our challenge is brought to us by our scrappy Trendsetter of the week- Julie! Our challenge this week is to use the colors red, blue, green and only neutrals. What a great color challenge to use as we scurry to finish up our holiday cards lol! You can find out all the details on this challenge and how you can win a $5 gift certificate to the TSG store right HERE.

For my first card, I used the just released set Holiday Tags. The images were stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black, colored with a blender pen and SU inks, cut out and adhered to the Very Vanilla layer that was stamped in Sahara Sand. I also added some sparkle with my Stardust Gelly Roll pen but you can't really see it in this picture.

Here is another card that I made but it incorporates some pink which is totally just another shade of red right??? LOL! I love making these types of cards. They are so simple yet really stand out! The images used on this card are from the set HSH Holiday Additions (which is expected to be back in stock today or tomorrow!). The images were stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black, colored with a blender pen and inks, sparkled, and I added a rhinestone to the flower centers.

Birdie Wishes sneak peek!

I hope you all enjoyed yesterday's Blog Hop Challenge! Today we have another fun set to show you- Birdie Wishes. If you arrived here from Jackie's blog than you are on the right track. If not, you may want to stop by the TSG Blog for all of the details!

Birdie Wishes is an adorable birdie silhouette set that not only works great for Christmas cards but for birthday and every day cards as well. There are a few silhouette shapes in this set that can be used as Christmas ornaments or balloons to give you even more versatility. You will have so much fun with these cute little birdies!

First, I chose to create a Christmas card to show off a bunch of the cute images that come in this set. I used a total of 20 stamps on this card!! Do you see the bird on the branch? That is a total of 4 different stamps- body, wing, beak and legs. I have been having so much fun playing with this set and I know that you will too!

Do you see the smallest ornament hanging from the branch?? It can also be used for Christmas lights!! Which is exactly what I did for the inside of my card :) After stamping the lights I used a marker to string them together.
I also wanted to make a birthday card to show you the versatility of this set. I totally copied the layout for this card from my girl Jodi cause that girl knows how to work her designer papers :) The balloon is actually made up of two different stamps. The bottom piece can be stamped on top a few different images in the set to create ornaments!! Talk about more bang for your buck :D

Thanks for stopping by today! Your next stop on this great hop is Jodi :)

Blog Hop Challenge- Holiday Tags!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF MY US FRIENDS!! Today is day one of the sneak peeks for the December Release at There She Goes!! If you arrived here from Jackie's blog than you are on the right track. If not, you may want to stop by the TSG Blog for all of the details!

The first set we have to show you is called Holiday Tags. There are a total of 18 stamps included in this 6x8 set and it will sell for $23.

I have been having so much fun playing with this set! For my sneak peek today I created a beautiful ornament/scrapbook that would be a great present for family. I also made a matching box that this ornament fits into perfectly!

I found a box template online and altered the measurement to fit my ornament which was made from a clear top tin that I bought last year for a project. The DP used is by My Mind's Eye. I stamped the images in Momento Tuxedo Black onto Very Vanilla card stock and then colored them in with a blender pen and SU inks.
Here is what the ornament looks like when opened-
I made a circular accordion style album and added pictures of us from throughout the year. For the base I used Always Artichoke card stock and then layered a Certainly Celery layer on top of that before decorating each circle with scrap DP (from the box), images from Holiday Tags, rhinestones and of course sparkle with my Stardust Gelly Roll Pen :)

Snowflake splendor

Here is another one of the cards that I made during my VSN stamping frenzy :) This was one of those cards that started as one thing and turned into a whole different thing lol! I used another scrap from my file folders for this card which is why the card base is a 'different' size. I have to say that I do love how it turned out! Ruby Red and Mellow Moss are great colors to use for holiday cards! All of the images used on this card are from the new mini set Stick Together.

The waters haven't gone up a whole lot more but we are expecting the worst of the rain to start tonight and the flooding to start early tomorrow morning. Here is what I saw off of my front deck this morning. I wonder what picture I will have to show you guys tomorrow???

Flood season is here!!

We have had a bunch of rain over the last couple of weeks and it looks like flood season is coming a little early this year! I know that it sounds a little crazy but this is such an exciting time for me. There is just something totally amazing watching the river transform so drastically in such a short amount of time! And I can't even describe what it's like being in the middle of a river when the flood actually hits. Our house is raised pretty high so we don't have to worry about water getting into our house so we just get to 'enjoy' being on our own private island. You can check out pictures I posted from last year's flood here if you would like.

This first picture is looking off of our front deck. You can see the river in the background (it curves toward than away from us). We have this big ditch type thing in front of the river that is called the slough (sp??) that fills with water that spills over the banks of the river at the end of the road on our street.
Here is a picture showing our front steps so you can see how close we are. I took this picture around 8:15 AM. It's about 9:00 AM right now and do you see those fence posts in the water?? All of those are completely covered right now!

This is the end of the road on our street that goes out to a field where my neighbors grow alfalfa in the summer. You can see where the water is flowing over the bank across the road and into the slough.
If you walk about 15 feet to the right this is what the river bank looks like! It's still about 6 feet from the top but that's not much.
According to the weather people, we aren't supposed to hit flood stage until 10 PM Thursday night but I think I will go and get my grocery shopping done today just in case ;)

New TSG Challenge

I hope that you all had a great weekend! Saturday we had a birthday party to go to and the girls had a blast going rollerskating for the first time. I stayed up waaay to late trying to see how many of the SCS VSN cards I could complete. I'm happy to say that I got all but 3 done! However, I still have yet to upload any of them but the following lol!

I think Sunday was my favorite thing because I did absolutely NOTHING!! I can't even tell you how long it's been since that has happened. It was very much needed and I definitely feel refreshed :)

Here is one of the cards that I made this weekend. I was trying to use as much of my scraps for my VSN cards so if you see a few creases where they don't belong, you'll know why ;) I used two mini sets for this card (Everyday Greetings & Polka Dot Blooms). I also added some stitching for this week's TSG Challenge which is to incorporate stitching of some kind in your card or project. Check out this post on the TSG Challenge to find out all the deets on this challenge and to see how you can win a TSG gift certificate!

Inside of card:

Even the girls got in on the VSN action this weekend! Here they are modeling the Masquerade masks that they made for the VSN kids project. This picture cracks me up every time I see it. It is usually so hard for me to get Kayla to let me take a picture of her but I told her that since she was wearing a mask no one would know it was her. When I snapped this picture I wasn't even paying attention to the faces they were making, I was just trying to make sure they were all looking at the camera (smiles are a plus ;). It wasn't until I uploaded the pictures later that I saw that Kayla was doing her best Home Alone imitation lol!! Then I see that Kylie was sticking out her tongue and Chloe barely had her mask on at all. When I asked Chloe about that she said "I had to do that because I couldn't see!". Silly girls.....

It's a beautiful day

A Paper Makeup Beautiful Fairies day that is!

Kylie has a birthday party to go to today so I whipped up this cute fairy card to match the gift bag we used for her friend's birthday present. These fairies are so much fun to color!!

I stamped the image in Momento Tuxedo black, colored with colored pencils and blended with OMS. I then added a little bit of sparkle to the wings with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen before cutting out with oval Nestabilities. After I had the oval adhered to the scallop oval, I added rhinestones. I just happened to have some DP by DCWV that matched the gift bag perfectly. Don't you love when that happens? That's why we horde as much goodies as we do lol!

Inside of card. Sentiment from Fairy Good Day by There She Goes.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh for the love of penguins.....

Here is the project that I wanted to share with you guys! It's a tri shutter card that I made on Sunday using the new Penguin Love stamp set. I have had so much fun with this set! There are a ton of stamps in this set and I wanted to make a project where I could incorporate as many of the images as possible. Not only was I able to do that but this folds up nicely into a standard 5.5x4.25 size card!! I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to part with this bad boy after all of the time I put into it but it's the thought that counts right?? ;)

I created the card base first in Ruby Red, added the white layer to each of the sections then added DP by SEI and 3 Bugs In A Rug in alternating sections. All of the images were stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black onto white card stock and colored with a blender pen and various SU inks. I then added some sparkle to all of the ice with my favorite Stardust Gelly Roll pen. All of the images were cut out and adhered to the card base using dimensionals.
Here are some close ups of the different sections-

Card Recipe:
Stamps- Penguin Love
Paper- Ruby Red, White, DP by SEI and 3 Bugs In A Rug
Ink- Momento Tuxedo black, various SU inks for coloring
Accessories- Blender Pen, Dimentionals, Stardust Gelly Roll Pen, SU Punch, Nestabilities, Adhesive Pearls, Quikie glue pen

TSG28- Chipboard Fun!

It's Monday again and I hope that you all got to enjoy your weekends. I was hoping to have at least one day to sleep in past 8:00 but not this weekend lol! Guess I'll just have to start the count down to next weekend ;)

This week TSG has a fun challenge for you and it's all about chipboard! Chipboard comes in all shapes and sizes and you can either make it yourself or buy it already decorated for you. For all the details on this challenge you can check out the TSG Blog! For my card today, I made my own simple chipboard embellishment to go behind my sentiment.

I stamped my background in Sahara Sand on Kraft CS. The penguins were stamped on white CS and colored in with a blender pen and ink from SU ink pads. I cut each of the penguins out and adhered the to the card base with dimensionals. I used an SU punch on white CS, stamped my sentiment, and added two rhinestones before I added it to my chipboard embellishment with dimensionals. I then added that to the card base with more dimensionals.

This is one of my holiday cards (I am trying desperately to build up my Christmas card stash early lol!) so I made a Knutsen family of penguins :) We love fishing in our house so it was only natural that papa penguin is holding his fishing pole!
To make my chipboard embellishment I ran a thin piece of cardboard through my Cuttlebug with a Nestablity circle and did the same thing with a piece of DP before I adhered them together. I then made a scallop circle with white CS and Nesties. I wanted the scallop layer to match the color of the penguin's hats so I colored it with my blender pen and ink :)

Card Recipe:
Stamps- Penguin Love
Paper- Kraft, white, DP by SEI
Ink- Momento Tuxedo Black, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories- Blender Pen, SU Punch, Nestabilities, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

I hope you'll come back tomorrow to check out a fun project that I worked on this weekend that took me HOURS to finish!
