We have made up...

My craft room and I had a long discussion today and worked through our issues. I would like to thank all of you for your wonderful support through this difficult time!

Here is the challenge card that I came up with. We were to use dimensionals on our card to raise a number of images and the only catch was not to use flowers. Well I just so happened to pick up this adorable stamp this weekend and couldn't wait to use. I thought that it worked perfectly for this challenge! I used different types of dimensionals to get different depth to the birds.

Supplies: Stamps- Inkadinkado. Paper- Close to cocoa, soft sky, very vanilla. Ink- close to cocoa, soft sky. Accessories- brads, dimensionals, clear embossing powder, cloud template, make up sponges, corner punch.

I finally learned how to make these beautiful clouds today! I've seen them in the gallery on cards and just couldn't figure out how it was done, so I did some research and gave it a try. Let me know if you guys would be interested in a tutorial on how to make them.

I think that I'm finally ready to try make up with my craft room. I will go in tonight bearing gifts that I bought at JoAnns and Michaels today. That should totally make it give me my mojo back right?!?! Wish me luck, I'm going in.......

Dollar Find Friday!! (Card holder bag)

Sorry for the late Dollar Find Friday post! My craft room and I are still not on speaking terms so I had to haul all of my stuff out to the dinning room table to work. It took me a longer to do my project because I needed to keep getting up to grab something I forgot. Oh well.... I'm boycotting my craft room until it gives me my mojo back lol!

Today's project is altering those cute little paper bags that we always see but never know what to do with-

Stamps- embrace life, natural beauty, happy harmony
Ink- pumpkin pie, ruby red, old olive, more mustard, creamy caramel, brocade blue, black stazon
small paper bag- this one is 4x5.25
6 Blank cards- mine are 3x5.5
6 Envelopes- 3 5/8 x 6.5
water color brush

Step 1- Stamp the word collage from Natural beauty on the center of your bag

Step 2- Make a mask of the word collage use it to cover the words you stamped on the bag. Stamp the leaves from Embrace life around the words.

Step 3- Remove mask and water color the leaves with old olive ink

Step 4- Stamp images on another piece of card stock, water color, cut and adhere to the front of the bag where desired.

Step 5- Stamp and water color your cards and envelopes to match the bag. I used an edge distressor around my cards to give them a little depth as well as added some stardust gelly roll pen to the images

Finished product!

Stamper's block....

No card post today. I'm having a major case of stamper's block! Anything that I try to make just does not turn out decent, so I'm going to take a break today and hope that I can come up with something tomorrow!

What do you do to get out of this funk??

And the winner is.....

Deena! Thanks for the comment! Email me your info and which card you would like and I'll get it out to you tomorrow. The link to my e-mail is on the left hand side of my blog.

Today's technique is to make a Flap Fold Card. This card was giving me nothing but trouble..... I didn't have any thin magnets that were strong enough to adhere through the card stock so I ended up just using a tiny bit of tape adhesive to use as a closure lol!

Supplies: Stamps- Embrace life, Natural Beauty. Paper- SU designer paper, River rock, very vanilla. Ink- black stazon, river rock. Accessories- scallop punch, compass, stardust gelly roll pen, rhinestones, paper piercer.

Week in review (Mar. 17-23) & Card Give Away

This week was another nonproductive one for me. I've been spending most of this week getting ready for my husband's birthday (that was on Sat.) and of course Easter. I did however get a few things done which I guess is better than nothing, right?
Card Give Away- Leave me a comment on this post and I will use a random number generator to determine the winner. That person will get to choose a card from this weeks review and I will send it to them. I will do the drawing tomorrow!

Dollar Find Friday & Flower Tutorial

Today's Dollar Find Friday is going to be a two part tutorial. I found this beautiful plain vase at my local dollar store and just had to pick it up. But after I decorated it, I needed to come up with something to put in it so I also included a tutorial for an origami flower that I learned how to make a few weeks ago on iScrap.

Rub ons

Step 1- Add rub ons to vase

* 7 punched out circles. (I used Stampin' Up's 2 inch scallop punch here.

* Scrap of card stock that is about 3x3

Step 1- Fold circle in half

Step 2- With the straight edge on top, fold up the bottom right corner

Step 3- Fold up the other corner

Step 4- Glue/tape your petals on the scrap piece of card stock in a circle

This is what it will look like when all of the sections are in place.

Step 5- Cut away the excess card stock

Step 6 (Optional)- Add a flower center

You can then add your flower to your project or add a "stem". I chose to use plain wood skewers for mine.

My finished product

Double card post

When I first looked at the sketch challenge I thought that it looked very detailed, but after looking at all the samples in the gallery I knew I could do it! Instead of doing the three separate panels I used my sewing machine to give the illusion that there were three.

My card

Supplies: Stamps- Canvas, TAC Deco designs, Studio G. Paper- River rock, black, very vanilla. Ink- river rock, black stazon. Accessories- sewing machine, scallop scissors, scallop punch, circle punch, ribbon.

Yesterday's color challenge did exactly what Carole intended for it to do- it struck fear in my heart lol!
After taking a few deep breaths and looking through my stamp binder I decided to pull this stamp out and give the challenge a whirl. I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

Supplies: Stamps- flowers (unknown), Studio G, Canvas. Paper- Sage Shadow, almost Kraft, very vanilla. Ink- black stazon, orchid opulence, sage shadow. Accessories- brads

And the winner is.....

Since I only had 3 comments you all win! So Squirrellyshirley, bloggy mama, and lacy e-mail me your info and which card you want and I will get it on the way. The cards are first come first serve! The link to my e-mail is on the left hand side of my blog.

*Lacy chose the Hugs to you card on the bottom right hand side

Yesterday's technique was a really fun one! You take the negative side of your cuttlebug folder and ink it up with your ink pad. You then put the paper on top of the ink and run it through your machine. I *love* the look of this effect and will be doing it more often for sure! Plus my husband bought me a Cuttlebug as an early birthday present this weekend! I'm so glad that I no longer have to use my clay pasta machine.......
Here is my card

Supplies: Stamps-Always. canvas. Paper-real red, very vanilla, so saffron. Ink-real red, so saffron. Accessories- embossing powder, heat gun, paper crimper, paper piercer, scallop scissors, scallop punch, circle punch, dimensionals, rhinestones, cuttlebug, embossing folder, corner rounder.

Carrot Box

The third Saturday of every month is my FAVORITE day of the whole month! Why, you ask? Because that is the day that I go to my stamp club! I made these little Easter treat boxes for my fellow stampers. You can find this super easy template HERE.

To make these, I printed out the template on my orange card stock and then stamped them with a swirl background by TAC. For the tops of the carrots I punched both a 2.5 and 2 in. scallop in green and stamped it with the swirl from Season of joy. I then cut them both in half taping the big ones on both the front and back of the carrot and using dimensionals to adhere the smaller scallop half on top of those. I stamped my image and colored them with watercolor crayons and a blender pen, punched them out with a circle punch and layered a green scallop behind them.

Packing Tape Tutorial

Last weekend during the online crop over at iScrap, I learned this super easy technique called the Packing Tape Technique. At first it sounded complicated but after I actually did it, I found out how simple and fun it is to do! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Packing Tape Technique

*Packing tape
*Bone folder
*Glossy image ripped from a magazine
*A dish of water big enough to fit your entire image

Step 1-

Cover your image with a piece of packing tape. If your image is larger and you need to overlap the tape, don't worry! It will still work.

Step 2-

Rub over your image with a bone folder to adhere the tape securely. If you have a stubborn air bubble that just won't go away, take a paper piercer and gently pop it and rub the bone folder over to smooth out.

Step 3-
Cut out your image.

Step 4-
Soak the image in water for 1-2 minutes.

Step 5-
Gently rub off all the paper backing. Be careful not to use your fingernails as it will scratch your image.

Step 6-
All you should be left with is the packing tape with the image transferred to it.

Now you can use this to embellish cards, scrapbook pages, alter objects, the list is endless!

Here is the card that I used my little bird for.

Supplies: Stamps- Always, Lines (unknown). Paper- So saffron, very vanilla, sahara sand. Ink- so saffron, sahara sand, brilliant blue. Accessories- bird using packing tape tutorial.

Dollar Find Friday!! (Candle Holder)

I had a different tutorial planned for today's Dollar Find Friday, but as I was searching through all of my picture files I discovered that I had accidentally deleted it. Doh! I was not a happy camper...... So I came up with this one instead. Very quick and very simple.

*Candle holder from dollar store decorated with rub ons
* Candle
* Raffia

Step 1- Layer the raffia on the bottom of the candle holder and place candle on top.
That's it lol!!
*WARNING* I would not recommend actually lighting the candle as the raffia is extremely flammable lol! This is just for looks......
