Dollar Find Friday! (Friendship Seed Basket)

Sorry today's post is so late! I procrastinated (what's new??) a little on finishing my project for today. But here it is!

Friendship Seed Basket

Supplies-
Wooden basket ($1 at Michael's)
Filler (I think that this was $1 at walmart)
Prima flowers
Ribbon
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Seed packets (you can find the template for this HERE)

Step 1- Paint wooden basket with acrylic paint

Step 2 (optional)- Ink edges of basket. I like to do this because I think that it adds a little depth.

Step 3-
Decorate with ribbon and prima flowers. I used brads in the middle of my flowers and then glued rhinestones on top of the brads.

Finished project! I made a card to go with this project so it could be used as a gift basket.

So what do you think?

Hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!

Christmas birthday in May???

When I saw the sketch challenge last night, it looked like it was going to be a hard one. Whenever I feel a little stumped I always pull out my two favorite sets- Natural Beauty and Embrace Life. I don't know why I chose the colors I did. I really should have known better. Every time that I use red and green together on a card it ALWAYS ends up looking like a Christmas card lol! Oh well, I tried right???

My CardSupplies- Stamps- Embrace Life, Natural beauty, Full of life. Paper- Handsome hunter, white, ruby red. Ink-Black stazon. Accessories- SU markers in Garden green and Ruby red, Prisma color markers, rhinestones, stardust gelly roll pen, corner punch, swiss dots embossing folder.

Yesterday while the girls were outside playing with their friends I made some more cards that were like the one that I made for the challenge. I wanted to experiment with colors a little bit so I did one is So saffron, Pretty in pink and Pale plum.

Supplies: Stamps- Essence of love, Full of life. Paper- So saffron, Pretty in pink, Sage shadow, Pale plum, white, chocolate chip. Ink- So saffron, Pretty in pink, Sage shadow, Pale plum, white, chocolate chip. Accessories- make up sponge, cloud template, dimensionals, corner punch.

I also wanted to share all of the beautiful birthday cards that I got this month. I have the greatest stamping friends ever!

Did you guys see today's color challenge over on splitcoast???? It was inspired by one of *my* cards, can you believe it?! I was so excited and I had no one to share with. DH was as happy as he could be for me, but lets be honest, he just doesn't get it lol! So the colors are-

Sage shadow
Chocolate chip
Very vanilla

These colors are so pretty together and oh so easy to play with! Here is the new card that I made for the challenge-

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! We sure did, we were actually fishing until 9:00 PM last night at the river by our house. I still can't believe how wonderful of a house/neighborhood that we moved into! I will have to share some more pictures soon...

Week in review (May 19-25) & Card give away

It looks like I didn't get to do a whole lot of stamping this week, I'd better make up for it next week :)

CARD GIVE AWAY- Please leave a comment on this post and tomorrow I use use a random number generator to pick the winner. That person will get to pick out their favorite card of the week and I will send it to them!

Here is a close up of the card that I did for today's featured stamper challenge. The image is a new one that I got from DRS designs and is colored with my new copic markers that my wonderfully supportive husband bought (and by bought I mean I used his money to buy them online lol!) for me. I only have a few of the markers and I already know that I'm hooked! I can see why they are so expensive..... Maybe when I have enough of them I will be able to do a tutorial on them. And look what I got for my birthday. It was the most beautiful rainbow that I have ever seen! It was a complete rainbow with a faint rainbow above it.

And the winner is...

I've had a busy day today and boy am I beat!

Dollar Find Friday (Monkey mirror)

My project today was inspired by one of my little monkeys, Chloe. She loves everything jungle right now and this week when we went to the library we got a ton of jungle themed books. So Chloe- this one is for you :)

Supplies-
Mirror ($1 at Michael's)
2 jungle wood cut outs ($.50 a piece)
Blue painters tape
Green acrylic paint
Close to cocoa ink pad
Sponge
Paintbrush
Sharpie marker (but I have an SU marker shown)

Step 1- Using blue painters tape, mask the inside of the mirror. This will help protect the mirror from getting paint on it.

Step 2-
Paint the frame with acrylic paint. Let dry. I am a little impatient so I used my heat gun to speed up the process ;)

Step 3- Using your sponge and close to cocoa ink pad, ink up the edges of the frame.

Step 4- Remove painters tape. If there is any paint on the mirror you can gently scrape it off.

Step 5- Glue on your wood cut outs. I used a hot glue gun for this.

Step 6 (optional)- write on the frame using your sharpie marker.

All finished! There is my little monkey Chloe. Doesn't she look like a wild child??? =)

Inspiration Challenge

Today it is 96* and HOT! And windy! I dislike wind very much so I decided to come play in my stamp room for awhile. It's pretty muggy in here but I finally figured out how to open these old windows and got a breeze going through so at least it's bearable. :)

It's been a while since I have done an inspiration challenge but when I saw this today, it made me think of my new paisley background that I got last month and had to play. I absolutely love the flowers from Essence of Love! What a beautiful stamp set it is.

Here is my card-

Supplies: Stamps- Paisley background, Essence of love, Full of life. Paper- Black handmade paper (a lovely friend from my stamping group gave me a ton of beautiful handmade papers today!), pale plum, very vanilla. Ink- black stazon. Accessories- horizontal slit punch, ribbon, corner punch.

I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your beautiful weekend!

Dollar Find Friday (Basket)

I'm sorry that this is getting posted so late! The weather here is absolutely gorgeous and my new neighbors and I spent most of the afternoon/early evening just sitting outside chatting while our girls played. Right next door is a 5 year old little girl named Kaely, and the house next to them is a 3 year old little girl named Kyrie. So all together there is Kylie, Chloe, Kayla, Kaely and Kyrie. Trying saying that 5 times fast lol! Have I mentioned how much I *LOVE* my new house and neighbors??? I could not have asked for a better place to live!!

So on to my project. Don't you love when you learn a new technique with supplies that you already own? I don't know about you guys, but I have a ton of 12x12 paper that I just had to have. Well a while back I was chatting with Laura over at splitcoast and she was talking about a basket tutorial that she had on her blog. They are made of one sheet of 12x12 paper and are so addicting to make!

Here is a picture of a couple that I made yesterday and today-

Aren't they gorgeous??? Think of all the different things that you could put inside of these! And don't forget about all of the beautiful papers out there! They may look a little intimidating but I can assure you that they are pretty simple to make. The only thing that I changed from Laura's tutorial was to use Sticky tape (instead of a glue stick) to adhere my paper strips while weaving. I found that the glue sick (and even regular mono adhesive) just weren't strong enough to hold it together nicely.

So check out Laura's tutorial HERE and make a beautiful basket of your own!

And as promised here are some pictures of my new craft room. I still need to paint it and remodel a bit, but I love the size! The shelf on the left is the one that I just finished painting.

The other shelf under my scrap paper is the other one that I painted

Don't mind the mess on the desk, haven't put all that stuff away and organised it yet.

This is the view out of my stamping window

And this is the view out of my sewing window. Not bad huh?
