Week in Review (June 23- 29) & Card Give Away

I could have sworn that I made more cards this week. I guess this doesn't totally surprise me though. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and we've been spending A LOT of time outside with our wonderful neighbors. It is so cute to see all of the neighborhood kids playing together.

"wonder"ful day

The weather has been so beautiful the last few days and we have been enjoying it as much as possible. The girls were swimming in the neighbor's kiddie pool until seven last night! This fresh air has been so great for them. It sure is hard trying to get any house work done lately though since I have to watch the kiddos outside. I am not lying when I say that my entire bed is covered with a HUGE pile of laundry waiting to be folded. Oh well, I guess it will just have to wait until the next rainy day..... ;)

I wanted to share a card that I made last week. I love this sentiment from DRS Designs, so true lol! I colored the flowers using copic markers.

Dollar Find Friday (canvas bag)

I found these adorable canvas bags at Michaels. They come in a 3 pack for only $1! I decided to give acrylic paint stamping a try for this project.



Supplies-
Canvas bags
Acrylic paint
Stamp set (I used Gorgeous Grapevine)
Foam brush (not shown)












Step 1- using a foam brush, cover the stamp with paint.
















Step 2- Stamp on canvas bag.













Step 3- stamp another color on top for depth (optional)













Step 4- finish stamping the rest of your images.

The paint is really easy to stamp with so I hope that you give it a try!

Feeling a little bird brained...

Today's challenge was to use birds. I have had these adorable images from Studio G forever and am finally using them. I decided to do a little play off of yesterday's sketch challenge. I love that layout!

Supplies: Stamps- Studio G, Full of life. Paper- black, white, so saffron, ruby red, always artichoke. Ink- Black stazon, always artichoke, so saffron, ruby red. Accessories- dimensionals, stardust gelly roll pen, corner punch.

Sketch challenge

Today's sketch challenge was so much fun! I have been wanting to make a card like this for a long time and I'm glad that I finally got the push to do it.

Supplies: Stamps- DRS Designs. Paper- black, white, river rock, groovy guava, soft sky. Ink- black stazon, soft sky, river rock, groovy guava. Accessories- Corner punch, dimensionals, stardust gelly roll pen.

Color challenge

Today's color challenge was Taken with teal, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi. I didn't think that I would be able to make these colors work but I love how it turned out! I absolutely LOVE the Butterfly 4 corner background by DRS Designs. (I cut it into four separate stamps and then cut out the butterflies so that I could use those separately also.)

Supplies: Stamps- DRS Designs, JoAnn's clear. Paper- Black, white, wild wasabi. Ink- Taken with teal, wild wasabi, black stazon. Accessories- cuttlebug and embossing folder, dimensionals.

Today's challenge over at splitcoast was to use inks to watercolor. I chose this beautiful butterfly image by DRS designs.

Supplies: Stamps- DRS Designs. Paper- White, black, soft sky. Ink- black stazon, old olive, close to cocoa, certainly celery, soft sky, ruby red, so saffron, more mustard, pumpkin pie. Accessories- cuttlebug and embossing folder, dimensionals.

Week in Review (June 9-22) & Card Give Away

I have done so much stamping over the last week! I made all of these cards PLUS another 7 or 8 that I'll be showing at another time.

Simple but cute

I made this for a friend's little girl who is having a ballet recital tomorrow. I wanted to go a little simple but still cute. What do you think?

Dollar Find Friday (washer embellishment)

Today's project is not an original idea but I can't for the life of me find where I got it from! If anyone knows, please let me know so I can give credit where it is due!



Supplies-
Rub ons
Diamond Glaze (Crystal effects)
Metal Washers









Step 1- Using a bone folder (or popsicle stick) adhere your rub on to the metal washer.





















Step 2- Add diamond glaze on top of the washer and let dry completely. I let mine dry over night.









All done! (Sorry for the blurry picture!) I haven't made a card sample using this embellishment yet but I would love to see what you guys do with yours! Send me a link in my comments so that I can check it out.

Hi!

I made this card (I cased one that I found in the SCS gallery) for my DH who hurt himself a couple of evenings ago. I was so happy to finally use my pun fun set!
I have been stamping sooo much the last few days! I blame it all on my copic markers. They are so darn fun to color with! I have quite a few things that I have colored over the last few days that I still need to turn into cards. I'm hoping to be able to do that tonight.

Here is a card that I made yesterday. I have had this flower set (from walmart I think) for a long time and I'm pretty sure that I've only used it a couple of times.

Isn't it funny...

...when you make a card that you really like and then just *have* to make more like it? Well that's what happened to me tonight. And since I haven't been stamping as much lately, I thought that I should go with it. Here is the first card that I made. First I colored my Tiers of Treats image with copic and prismacolor markers. Then I decided to make my own matching designer paper by stamping one of my mini backgrounds (lines) and then coloring them in with the same colors I used to color the main image. I love how they tie in together.

Supplies: Stamps- Tiers of treats, Cupcake sentiment from Inkadinkado, Mini stripe background (unknown) . Paper- White, black. Ink- Black stazon. Accessories- Copic markers, prismacolor markers, corner punch, dimensionals, scallop scissors

Here is the second card that I made-

Supplies: Stamps-Flower fence with birdhouses (DRS Designs) , TAC trendy greetings, Mini stripe background (unknown). Paper- White, black. Ink- Black stazon. Accessories- Copic markers, prismacolor markers, corner punch, scallop scissors, dimensionals.

And here is the card that I made for today's color challenge (soft sky *or bashful blue*, black, kraft *or creamy caramel*)-

Supplies: Stamps- Essence of love, Mini stripe background (unknown). Paper- White, Black. Ink-Black stazon, creamy caramel. Accessories- Copic markers, scallop scissors, corner punch, dimensionals.

Glimmer mist

Today's challenge over at splitcoast was to make a card using glimmer mist. I made a green glimmer mist and used it on my old olive panel before I cuttlebugged it and cut it in half. I'm still trying to keep it simple so that is why my card is a little plain lol!

Supplies: Stamps- Simple solitude. Paper- White, old olive, black. Ink-Black stazon. Accessories- SU markers in Ruby red, old olive and chocolate chip, corner punch, crop-o-dile, cuttle bug, brads, glimmer mist.

Happy Father's Day!

No week in review post today, sorry folks! We stopped into a furniture store yesterday because we heard that they were having a really great sale. Of course we don't really need anything, we just wanted to take a peek. Yeah right lol! We ended up finding this huge, beautiful mahogany U shape desk that would be perfect in my craft room. And it was a steal! It normally sells for about $1200 and we got it for $300. Can you believe that?! So when we got home and I started to move stuff around to make room for the desk, I decided that I wanted to paint first. Well, of course I can't paint until Matt rewired the room and added more outlets (which he made desk height for me!). Then he needed to patch a couple of cracks in the dry wall. So today I get to finally paint the primer and hopefully that will dry quickly so that I can paint. I chose a beautiful cream color that we'll be using on the rest of the house. I'll make sure to post pictures when I finally get everything done.

I also wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband Matt. I could have never asked for a more wonderful and devoted husband/father. I love him oh so very much! We are so lucky to have such a happy family together!

I'm back in the game folks!

I think that I finally discovered what was causing my stamping block- I was trying too hard! After some uplifting words from my wonderful friend Debbie and some AWESOME news I found out today, I decided to give it another try tonight. I decided to go simple and started by coloring some flower images with my new copic and prismacolor markers. It all just seemed to come together after that. What do you think about these?

Dollar Find Friday (rhinestone hat)

When I was in Michaels the other day I came across these adorable hats (my daughter calls them "Bindi the jungle girl" hats) as well as some iron on bling. Each of these were only $1!




Supplies-
Hats
Iron on rhinestones
Iron









Step 1- I tried to iron the hat first to remove some of the wrinkles. Not too sure I did that great of a job lol!













Step 2- Peel the plastic off of the cloth like backing. The rhinestones will stick to the plastic.














Step 3- Gently iron the rhinestones (iron on top of the plastic) on a dry wool setting for about 15 seconds.














Step 4- Iron the inside of the hat for about 3 seconds. You don't want to get the adhesive too hot or it will melt.















Step 5- Let the hat cool down for a few minutes and then gently peel off the plastic.













Finished! Don't let the sweet face fool you, she's trouble :)

I wanted to share this picture of all of the neighborhood kids sitting on our neighbor's porch eating twinkies and hoho's yesterday. Can you believe that half of those kids are mine lol?!
